Design & Technology Day

On Thursday 15th June the whole school took part in a Design and Technology day. Each year group had a customer that wanted something specific made. The children needed to plan, make, test and evaluate their product. Everybody worked hard and showed resilience -even when it got tricky! We had some lovely products made and the children were very good at explaining the process they went through.  Take a look at some of our designs.

We have designed and created Mayan huts to link in with our Topic. We used clay to create the base for the main structure. We then used art straws and paper to add detail and create a structure for the roof to sit on.

In year 4 we designed and created our very own Mythical Gods. We took inspiration from the Gods that the Vikings believed in and added our own twist to it.  We created a structure from wire, which we then layered with mod roc. It was very difficult but we preserved and we are extremely pleased with the results

As part of our WW2 topic we have designed and produced our very own allotments. We used several different materials to produce the food and other details inside it. We painted the cardboard box to start with, then we created food, greenery and a green house to make it look like a real life allotment!

Year 3 - have made the mountains

Year 5 - have made the Mayan masks
