Curriculum

Our Curriculum at Noak Bridge Primary School

Our curriculum is broad, balanced, creative and engaging, which covers the National Curriculum. Wherever possible, cross-curricular links are made so that the requirements for all of the different curriculum areas are reinforced.

Embedded in our curriculum are opportunities to learn through the delivery of the different arts subjects (art, craft and design, music, dance) which have a positive impact on the self-esteem of the children, providing depth to their learning and depth to their development as individuals. We aim to nurture well rounded, respectful, kind and confident children.

In order to ensure progression and balance, curriculum maps and progression documents are developed into schemes of work. Teachers then plan and tailor units of work / lessons to address the individual needs of pupils so that all pupils make progress from their starting point. Our feedback and marking policy is implemented consistently across the curriculum and provides opportunities for children to reflect on their learning and respond to their feedback in order to make progress.

A broad and balanced curriculum is not just the timetabled subjects; it is every pupils’ holistic experience of school. We recognise that children learn best through memorable, first hand experiences. The curriculum is made memorable by a range of visits and experiences, and made relevant by making links between subjects in engaging contexts.

We promote an ethos of ‘Excellence, Growth and Achievement’:

We want everyone to achieve personal excellence – to be the best they can be.

To grow as individuals, in all aspects of life.

To raise levels of achievement, and become life-long learners.

We follow the National Curriculum for all subjects.

English and Maths lessons are taught daily.

Foundation subjects are taught in units of work and may be taught weekly or in blocks.

If you would like to find more details regarding the curriculum we teach, please contact the school directly.
